Other styles/genres/qualities of music that I like not listed above: zydeco, western swing
Favorite or well-respected bands/artists Banco, Area, Magma, Le Orme, Univers Zero, Present, Henry Cow, Von Zamla, Ashra. Less obvious favorites include One Shot, Sotos, Cultural Noise, Absolute Zero ... and a host of others. I used to really like Klaus Schulze until he released about a half dozen consecutive CDs with samples of bleating goats and women moaning (not sure what he was trying to tell us).
Dislike these Styles and musical qualities: Noise/Industrial/Urban, Mainstream/Accessible/Pop, Musique Concrète, Theatrical
Musical styles or qualities that I do not like: Neo-prog, hip-hop, most punk, most metal

Other musical activities: Used to be a journalist, and reviewed concerts and albums. Used to play guitar, but learned to appreciate music to the point where it was necessary for me to quit so I wouldn't have to hear myself play.
Hobbies / obsessions: What, there's something other than progressive music? I also enjoy movies (Hitchcock, Kurosawa, film noir) and wish I had more time for creative writing.
