|---|---|---|
On ex-Pierrot Lunaire member Stalteri's first solo album, keyboards (mostly organ and piano) generally dominate although acoustic guitar, electric guitar, flute and oscillators are used as well. All these instruments are played by Stalteri. There are guest musicians on percussion and sound effects. The album is almost completely instrumental, although some wordless vocals appear. The music is based on rather repetitive (maybe even hypnotizing) keyboard patterns. Several tracks remind me of the minimalist side of Franco Battiato (around Sulle corde di Aries or Clic). I would place Andre Sulla Luna in between both Pierrot Lunaire albums in terms of experimentalism. This album is certainly not as good and varied as Gudrun by Pierrot Lunaire, but it is a solid and interesting album. If you like Pierrot Lunaire, you should like this album as well. | ||
