Sjef Oellers 12-April-2001 Al Otro Lado

Al Otro Lado is a mixed bag. There are some great passages in the heavy symphonic progressive style reminiscent of Yes, Utopia, and ocassionally Rush. But half of the album contains song-oriented and mediocre hard rock like on "Mujer de Plastico" and "Donde Estais". I find the vocalist downright irritating with a whining, thin voice, which partly spoils the album for me. The two longest tracks (6.30 and 10.45 minutes) are in the heavy progressive style with great interplay between guitar and keyboards. Still, all in all a disappointing album that lacks good compositions except for the two longs tracks mentioned.
