1 Equinox Lonely in My Dreams Baja Prog Live 1998 1998 Musea
Equinox is from Panama City. They currently only have one studio release. The production quality and musicianship is excellent, but, I found the songs a bit too predicatable and "pop" for my tastes. But, I have been informed that there has been some major line-up changes, that their new material is more "prog" and that they put on an excellent show at Baja Prog '98. This track is from that performance.

2 Dark Aether Project Dark Aether Dark Aether Project 1998 Private
DAP is fronted by the prog communities ever-present Adam Levin. The group formed in late 1997 and recorded their first CDR after being together only 2 months. To me, the sound is a bit "thin". I am not sure if that is a result of the home-grown production or the instrumentation. The band is now completely different with only Adam remaining from the original group. New additions include former Iluvatar drummer Allen Brunelle and former Echolyn vocalist, Ray Weston. This first release contains some mellow spacey ambient music that reminds me a little of the mellower moments of Discipline era King Crimson, but, with more of an ambient frippertronic influence. I have no idea what their current line-up sounds like.

3 Ten Jinn Ritual Fire Wildman 1997 Emerald City Records
This is Ten Jinn's first release. When I first picked up this CD, I was un-impressed. But, perhaps I am warming up to the band. I found it to be a very re-freshing listen this time around. It is not the most challenging progressive rock, but, it is very well composed and sonds nice.

6 Discipline Systems Push and Profit 1993 Strung Out Records
This is Discipline's "other" album. They are not exactly prolific, with only 2 albums released in 6 years time. I found this album to be surprisingly good, and nearly as good as "Unfolded Like Staircase". The compositions are strong and the playing is tight. If you like ULS, then you will not be disappointed by this CD.
