1 Tomita Arabesque No. 1 Snowflakes are Dancing 1974 BMG/RCA/Victor
This song probably sounds familiar to you, though you may have never known what it was. "Greetings fellow Star Gazers, I'm Jack Horkheimer..." is what you may have heard late at night at the end of the PBS broadcasting day, with this song playing in the background. Anyway, this is some pretty neat electronic music. I have not heard any others by Tomita, so cannot offer any comparisons. This particular album is all music by Claude Debussy, and appears to be Tomita's first album. By this time Tomita was already an acclaimed and award winning soundtrack composer.

2 Vermillion Sands Coral D ~ The Cloud Sculptors Water Blue 1988 Made in Japan Records / Musea
Very good Renaissance/Genesis inspired symphonic with female vocals. It is a very nice listen. Lots of acoustic guitar strumming along with the symphonic styled music. Recommended for fans of Renaissance who would like to hear more of this style.

3 Heretic Excerpts from Interface Part I 1984-1988 1984 Belle Antique
This band is reportedly King Crimson influenced, but, I do not hear the influence so much, as I do from a group like Bi Kyo Ran, for example. The album is a schizophrenic mix of very different musical styles - so maybe that is where the KC influence comes from. Many of the songs embody a style of melodic guitar led songs with an almost pop appeal. The music sounds like it could easily work as a movie soundtrack. Mixed in with this, is some electronic Heldonish mayhem. It's all pretty good, but, not of a consistent style. All instrumental.

4 Kenso Sea Kenso 3 1985 Crime / King Record
Kenso's third great prog/fusion album. Complex and jazzy with remarkable virtuosic musicianship. Ferocious guitar and beautiful flute playing. All instrumental. CD seems to be very scarce, unfortunately.

5 Bi Kyo Ran Psycho (Part 1) "Ran" - Live vol 3 1983 Belle Antique
Taken from a 1983 live performance. This appears to have been released in 1993. Very aggressive Frippoid guitar and manic percussion. Excellent!

6 Midas Sham Noctiluca Beyond the Clear Air 1988 Made in Japan Records
Excellent violin-led symphonic progressive. Vocals in Japanese. Complex, original, and great melodies.
