This album ranks very high on an emotional level for me, having played
it hundreds of times over the past 25 years. It is a double album mixing
psychedelia and prog with lots of creepy and scary elements thrown in.
Aphodite's Child started out as a psychedelic pop group in the late 60's
in Greece. They released 2 or 3 studio albums prior to _666_ and lots of
singles. _666_ is the only one of interest to hard-core prog fans, though
the earlier ones are nice if you like 60's psychedelia. ...and, oh yeah,
this group marks the beginning of Vangelis' career!

This CD re-issue only contains about 1/2 of the complete double
album release (which I have not yet heard). There is a wide range
of styles here, alot of psychedelia, jazzy guitar, even some
bluegrass and cajun sounding music !?

This is an unofficial release, I believe, of some jam-sessions recorded
at about the same time as Aphrodite's Child's _666_. The line-up features
Michel Ripoche on violin, Brian Odgers on bass, and Arghiris on guitar, who
I suspect is Silver Koulouris of Aphrodite's Child. This album is slagged
by critics, and Vangelis himself, but, I like it alot. The music is
much more raw sounding than Vangelis' other solo work, but, the recording is
excellent. There is another album recorded one month prior to _The Dragon_
called _Hypothesis_. It is also on the Charly label. Neither of them have
been released on CD.

What I have is a LP only re-issue of a rare Greek prog lp. I am guessing, somewhat,
on what the name of the song is, because it is written in Greek. But, it probably
is Metamorphosis or some derivation thereof. The music is fairly raw guitar
oriented hard-rock.

Another small sample from this interesting Vangelis artifact.

More than anything, this album reminds me of Camel's first album.
Slightly jazzy and Canterbury-ish keyboards with riffy guitar playing.
The recording on this, Tako's first of two releases, is not as clean
as their second. Mostly instrumental.
