1 | Grobschnitt | Travelling | Grobschnitt | 1972 | Repertoire |
Grobschnitt's first album. Hard-prog with classical touches, complex long
songs, and space-rock excursions. Perhps my favorite of theirs after the
double-live _Solar Music Live_. Reminds me a little of Wallenstein's
_Blitzkrieg_ album.

2 | Can | Vitamin C | Ege Bamyasi | 1972 | Spoon |
Generally considered as one of Can's best albums. Their sound is a fairly
laid-back, easy-going psychedelic with a heavy dose of experimentalism
and influences from many other musical cultures.

3 | Franz K. | Sensemann (excerpt) | Sensemann | 1972 | Repertoire |
This band has reportedly released almost a dozen albums, while this one, their first, is considered to be the only one of interest for progressive music fans. The album consists of 2 long tracks that cover a lot of different musical territory. The band is a guitar/bass/drums trio. This track starts off sounding a little like "When Friends Fall Out" from the Guess Who's _American Woman_ album, then like the ending of 21st Century Schizoid Man, and then moves into an interpretation of the beginning of Beethoven's 5th. But, much of what they do is atmospheric psychedelic/blues/space rock guitar excursions.
4 | Jane | Try to Find | Together | 1972 | Repertoire |
This is a really nice guitar/prog album. Tremendous guitar leads that
reminds me of the Eloy's _Inside_ and _Floating_ albums, but, mostly I
am reminded of Peter Frampton's inspired playing on Humble Pie's 2 best
albums _Humble Pie_(1970) and _Rock On_(1971). There also seems to be a
bit of Spooky Tooth in the vocals and keyboards. I have only heard one
other later Jane album which was very ordinary. Reportedly _Together_
is the only really good effort by Jane.

5 | Out of Focus | Tsajama | Four Letter Monday Afternoon | 1972 | Ohrwaschl/Kuckuck |
A monumental 2 album jazz/rock/fusion/prog...thing. Lots of structured jamming with chord vamping and extended solos. The cool sax melodies gives it an early Soft Machine or Eiliff sound. Maybe a little Murphey Blend.
