Asia Minor |

Crossing the Line |

Asia Minor contains elements of Camel, Jade Warrior, Focus,
and Jethro Tull. Every band that has flute must be compared to
Jethro Tull! Anyway, the music is excellently refined symphonic
progressive. This is a must for anyone who enjoys albums like
Genesis' "Wind and Wuthering" album. Both of Asia Minor's albums
are classics.

Cuneiform |

This final album by Heldon, is considered to be their best.
I had not been much of a fan of electronic music until
hearing Heldon. When I used to think of electronic music,
it was of thin sounding squirrelly music. But, Heldon is
electronics in the sense of heavy machinery. It's the music
of highway construction equipment and steel mills.

Resurgence d' Errance |

This is an album that not very many people talk about,
which is a shame, because it is a fantastic CD. I usually
listen to CD's while sitting at my computer and often times
get caught up in reading or typing, and forget what is playing.
What I initially think of an album is highly influenced by how
much it grabs my attention with something interesting and
beautiful, and makes me say "wow, this is great, what am I
listening to again?". The music has a certain amount that
sounds similar to Jean-Luc Ponty's better material. But, it
is more complex than that, with elements of chamber music.
The band is also comparable to Carpe Diem.

Ange |
La Bataille Du Sucre |
Au Dela Du Delire |
1974 |
Phillips |
|
This is often cited as Ange's best release. It is a great mix
of powerful, dark keyboards and vocals with a classical
refinement. Add in a little folk element, and you have a
dreamy music that makes you think of other-worldly things.

Igor Wakhevitch |
Materia Prima |
Docteur Faust |
1971 |
Fractal Records |

Igor's albums are dark experiments of classical and rock music
instrumentation, as well as electronics and sound effects. It is
very avant garde. Every bit of this album is unexpected.
The original LP's are very rare. The CD's are only available via
a recent 6-disc box-set. It contains 6 of Wakhevitch's albums
from the 1971-1979. I have not listened to all of them, yet, but,
the first 2 "Logos" and "Docteur Faust", are very interesting.
This box set is limited to only 500 copies. I got mine from
Wayside/Cuneiform. "Docteur Faust" is also available as a
boot-CDR from the Japanese "Poor House" label with the original
artwork.
