1 | Flower Kings | Rumble Fish Twist | Space Revolver | 2000 | Inside Out | 11 (Alan's) |
"Another year goes by, and it's time for a new Flower
Kings album ;-). They have gone back to a single cd
format, and have put out a much stronger release.
Though the sound remains familiar, I hear some new
ideas entering the mix. This track is a pretty cool
instrumental outing. The new bass player contributes
some cool Jaco-ish basslines." - Alan Mallery

2 | Ze Morglbl Trio!! | Ben...Voila! | Bienvenue a Morglbl Land | 1999 | self-release | 11 (Alan's) |
"Ze Morglbl Trio is an instrumental 3 piece from
France: Guitar/Bass/Drums. They play a heavy
progressive guitar rock, with a resemblence to Steve
Vai's solo works or Rush, with a twist of humour
thrown in. This is their second album. Great music
for the car. ;-) " - Alan Mallery

3 | Periferia Del Mondo | I Bless the Night | In Ogni Luogo, In Ogni Tempo | 2000 | Akarma Records | 9 (Alan's) |
"This is a debut of a new Italian group. Their sound hovers someway between classic 70's Italian bands and newer ones, reminding me most of the group Calliope. They have some good ideas, but overall the albums suffers from inconsistency. A group to watch." - Alan Mallery | ||||||
4 | Barbara Dennerlein | Strange Passion | Outhipped | 2000 | Verve | 11 (Alan's) |
"Dennerlein is one of the top jazz organists around
today, along with Joey DeFrancesco. This is her
latest album, which features her along with a lineup
of guitar, drums, percussion, and a few horn players.
Besides being a great player, her compositions are
also very interesting. Maybe like Niacin with a
jazzier touch. Very much recommended." - Alan Mallery

5 | Ozric Tentacles | Space Out | Swirly Termination | 2000 | Snapper Music | 12 (Alan's) |
"Interesting story on this release. The Ozrics
recorded this material back in 1998, intended as the
2nd album they would release for Snapper music. Then
they had a disagreement with the label and left, and
this music remained unreleased, until this year. Even
though the Ozrics aren't supporting this release, it's
a fine slab of music. More live play and less
sequencing than other recent releases such as
Waterfall Cities. This track appears in live form as
"Spice Doubt" on the album "Spice Doubt Streaming". " - Alan Mallery
